Springbok Classic Air: Recency training & IF renewals
Dear Colleagues,
My family and I, would like to offer our most sincere condolences with what has happened to our once proud and respected company, SAA.
Between myself and my three children we have accumulated 76 years of service at SAA. As with all of you, SAA has become part of my family’s DNA and you can understand that I still feel, like yourself, the fear of what the future holds for all of us whom are facing the likelihood of losing our jobs, which we all love so much.
Faced with the possibility of unemployment for some time, I am sure many of you have asked yourself the question: “How on earth am I going to keep my license valid until I am re-employed again?” Well, we would like to try and help you all to keep your license valid.
Springbok Air Academy, our family business at Rand Airport, is an Approved Training Organization (ATO – SA CAA 0317) rated for A320, A330 and B737-800 training.
We are therefore able to offer you the following:
- Recency training.
- IF renewals.
- CCQ training
Regrettably we cannot offer the training at cost but have tried to keep the cost to the absolute minimum. I have managed to negotiate a substantially reduced from industry DFE rate. I have also only added a modest margin to the SIM leasing rate. Regrettably, the A330 is partly owned by CAE and therefore much more expensive than the other SIM’s.
Recency:
- All of the recency training has to be done on a Level D (Full Flight) Sim.
- Only three night take off’s and landings are required.
- It could all be done on the SAA A320 SIM – it does NOT have to be on the A330 (more expensive) SIM.
- 1 Hour is required for two pilots.
Cost: (PER PILOT SHARING)
Recency on FULL Flight SIM: 1 Hour
- A320 - R 4,500.00
- A330 - R 6,100.00
- B737 - R 4,500.00
IF Renewals:
- All Instrument Renewals MAY be done on the A320 FTD. (Fixed base) SIM.
- The assessment is as per the CA 61-11.4 form.
- 3 Hours are required for two pilots.

A320 - R 6,500.00 Fixed Base
NOTE: ALTHOUGH WE ARE CONFIDENT WE CAN ACCOMPLISH THE NECESSARY TRAINING/ASSESSING WITHIN THE PLANNED TIMES – SHOULD ADDITIONAL TIME BE NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THE NECESSARY STANDARDS IT WOULD BE FOR THE CANDIDATES ACCOUNT.

International Youth Program
The Program matches your family with an airline family abroad so your teen can travel in the summer. A program for airline employees.
The program connects teens ages 14 to 19 with a similar-aged teen from an airline family abroad. The teen uses his or her family’s flight privileges to travel. They spend two weeks together in each of their homes, for a total of four weeks.
During the exchange, your son or daughter has the opportunity to explore another country, learn about another culture and improve his or her foreign language skills from someone their same age.
